The key requirements are:
To participate in the Solar Victoria rebate program, solar installers must meet specific accreditation and training requirements to ensure safety and quality standards.
Safety Compliance:
- Installers must maintain a strong safety record, adhering to occupational health and safety laws.
- A statement confirming no significant contraventions or prosecutions with WorkSafe Victoria (or an equivalent authority in other Australian jurisdictions) in the past three years must be provided.
Solar Victoria Registration:
- Installers must register with Solar Victoria and use the Service Victoria app during installations to scan customer QR codes, ensuring compliance and real-time safety monitoring.
By meeting these requirements, installers demonstrate their dedication to delivering safe, high-quality installations, aligning with the standards of the Solar Victoria rebate program and providing peace of mind to customers.
Accreditation:
- Solar PV Systems: Installers and designers must hold accreditation for grid-connected PV systems under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), now managed by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA), replacing the Clean Energy Council (CEC).
- Battery Systems: For grid-connected battery installations, SAA battery installer accreditation is required.
Licensing:
- Installers must have an unrestricted (Class A) electrical license, registered with Energy Safe Victoria.
Mandatory Safety Training:
- Completion of the unit VU23631 – Work Safely on Roofs with Renewable Energy Systems.
- Attainment of the CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).
