GoodWe Inverters Shut Down and Restart
Applies to all GoodWe systems.
Before you start
- Make sure it is daylight — the inverter needs solar input from the panels to power up
- If your system includes a battery or backup unit, check that no backup functions are currently active
- Never restart during a lightning storm or when system components appear damaged
1. Turn off the AC isolator
Locate the Solar Supply Main Switch or AC isolator beside your switchboard or inverter.
- Switch it OFF
2. Turn off the DC isolator
Find the DC isolator underneath or next to the inverter, labelled PV Array DC Isolator.
- Switch it OFF
3. Wait 1–2 minutes
Allow all LEDs and display indicators to turn off completely.
- This gives the internal capacitors time to discharge and resets the system fully
4. Turn the DC isolator back ON
Switch the DC isolator back to ON.
5. Turn the AC isolator back ON
Turn the Solar Supply Main Switch or AC isolator back to ON.
6. Allow the inverter to restart
The inverter will run internal checks and re-establish communication.
- After a few minutes, the display or LEDs should show normal operation
- A green power light confirms the inverter is generating
7. Verify monitoring
Open the SEMS Portal app and confirm that data is updating normally.
- If a fault code reappears after restart, note it down before contacting your installer or GoodWe Technical Support
Troubleshooting Tips
- Avoid performing back-to-back restarts — always allow a full 1–2 minutes between shutdown and startup
- If the inverter does not power back on, check that the DC isolator and PV strings are switched on and that there is sufficient sunlight
- If issues continue after a proper restart, contact your installer or GoodWe Technical Support
