GoodWe Inverters Wi-Fi Reconnect
Applies to all GoodWe systems with built-in Wi-Fi, including the DNS, SDT, DT, MS, ET Hybrid, EH Hybrid, ES, ESA, BH, BT and EM Hybrid series. If your system includes an EzLogger Pro (Wi-Fi version), the same process applies to that datalogger.
Before you start
- Confirm your home Wi-Fi is working on another device
- Stand within a couple of metres of the inverter — the inverter’s Wi-Fi hotspot has a limited range
- Make sure your inverter is powered on
- Download the SEMS Portal app if you don’t already have it, and ensure you are logged in. For newer hybrid models, SolarGo may be required instead
1. Open the SEMS Portal app
Launch the SEMS Portal app on your phone.
- From the login screen, tap WiFi Configuration, or from the home screen tap the WiFi icon at the bottom
2. Begin the reconnection process
Confirm your inverter is powered on, then tap Next.
- If a pop-up appears, tap I am aware of that to continue
3. Connect to the inverter hotspot
Tap Go to WLAN setting interface. The app will redirect you to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.
- In your phone’s Wi-Fi list, find and connect to the network named Solar-WiFi followed by a string of numbers (the last eight digits of your inverter serial number)
- When prompted for a password, enter 12345678 and tap Connect
- Your phone may warn that the network has no internet access — this is expected
4. Select your home Wi-Fi network
Return to the SEMS Portal app and tap Next.
- When prompted to select a router, tap the dropdown and choose your home Wi-Fi network from the list
- Enter your home Wi-Fi password carefully — it is case-sensitive
5. Apply the settings
Leave DHCP set to ON (the default — correct for nearly all home networks).
- Tap Set and wait 30–60 seconds for the inverter to be configured
- Once a success confirmation appears, tap OK
6. Reconnect your phone and verify
Go back to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and reconnect to your home network.
- Open the SEMS Portal app and check your dashboard — data should return within a few minutes
- Some historical data backfill can take up to 24 hours
Wi-Fi LED Indicator

| Solid on / fast blinking | Connected to your home Wi-Fi and uploading data to SEMS Portal — this is what you want |
| Flashing 4 times, pause, repeat | Connected to your router but not reaching the internet — check your internet connection |
| Slow blinking | Not connected to any Wi-Fi — run through the reconnection steps above |
| Off | Wi-Fi module is not active — power-cycle the inverter; if LED remains off, contact your installer |
Troubleshooting Tips
Solar-WiFi network does not appear in the phone’s Wi-Fi list
Stand closer to the inverter and toggle your phone’s Wi-Fi off and on to refresh the scan. If still not visible, press and hold the Wi-Fi reset button on the module for a few seconds (location varies by model). If the issue persists, contact your installer.
Password 12345678 is rejected
This is the default and rarely changes — some installers may have set a custom password. Contact your installer if the default does not work.
Success message appears but inverter stays offline
Wait at least 15 minutes — data upload can be slow after reconnection. If no data after an hour, perform a Wi-Fi reset on the module and repeat the configuration steps. If your router shows the inverter as connected but SEMS Portal still shows it offline, the issue may be on GoodWe’s server side — check the SEMS Portal status page.
2.4GHz vs 5GHz band issues
GoodWe Wi-Fi modules only connect to 2.4GHz networks and cannot see 5GHz bands. If your router combines both bands under a single name (common with many ISP-supplied routers), the inverter may fail to connect. Log in to your router’s admin page and either split the bands into two separate network names, or temporarily disable the 5GHz band while configuring the inverter.
Weak Wi-Fi signal
If your phone shows 1–2 bars at the inverter location, the signal may be too weak for a reliable connection. Add a Wi-Fi extender or mesh node positioned between the router and the inverter. For the most reliable connection, consider a wired Ethernet connection via a LAN Kit communication module — most GoodWe inverters support this.
