AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat. In these batteries the electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat between the plates by capillary action. As explained in the eBook “Energy Unlimited”, AGM batteries are preferred to Gel batteries in applications requiring short-time delivery of high current. AGM batteries are also more suitable than gel batteries for RV use as they have higher resistance to vibration.
